JEAN KLOCK PARK’S
100th BIRTHDAY COMMEMORATION!
Save Jean Klock Park
    Dear Friends,

This press release (below) has been sent to the Herald-Palladium, the Benton Spirit
News, ABC-57, WSJM and other media outlets.  We are hoping that we can raise
the amount needed (yet unknown) by September 1st, 2017.  Please consider making
a contribution.  We feel it is important to honor the anniversary of the Klocks’
generous gift which has been enjoyed by tens of thousands of people for the last 100
    years.

The Friends is solely responsible for fund raising.  If we do not raise sufficient funds
by July 1st, 2018 we will return your money (if paying through Paypal the refund
will be slightly less due to the small percentage Paypal charges us).  If we raise more
than the cost of the pillar, the excess funds will be given to Freshwater Future in
Traverse City.  Through grants and various resources that organization was
especially supportive of efforts to keep the golf course out of the park, for both the
state and federal lawsuits filed in 2008.

Please let us know if you need more information.  We are very excited about the
possibility of honoring the donors and commemorating the anniversary of our
    beautiful Lake Michigan park.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MAY 16, 2017

COMMEMORATION OF JEAN KLOCK PARK’S 100th BIRTHDAY

Benton Harbor, Mich., May 16, 2017 -- To commemorate the one-hundredth
anniversary of the dedication of Jean Klock Park, the Friends of Jean Klock Park
and the City of Benton Harbor are partnering for a celebration on July 15th, 2017, at
    the park.

In 1917 the City erected entrance pillars at the north and south entrances to the
park.  One of the north side pillars included a dedication plaque which fell off the
pillar sometime in the 1990s.  It was retrieved by the Morton House Museum and
has been kept in a safe place for a number of years.

The Friends and the City wish to erect another pillar, which will include the original
dedication plaque, inside the park near the pavilion on the beach. Fund-raising for the
    new pillar begins today.

Friends of Jean Klock Park, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is in charge of the fund
drive.  Contributions may be submitted here via our Paypal account on our Donate
page. They also may be sent via US mail to: Friends of Jean Klock Park, P.O. Box
8988, Benton Harbor, MI 49023. Donors seeking anonymity may make a direct
deposit at any Fifth Third Bank Location to the account of ‘Friends of Jean Klock
    Park’, account ending #5869.
